43rd Annual Conference held in University of Mumbai
  • 43rd Annual Conference was held at University of Mumbai on 29-31 December, 2009. It was organized by Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL)and Department of Education, University of Mumbai. The inaugural ceremony was held in K.K. Marathi Bhasha Ani Sahitya Bhawan. Prof. Ram Takwale, former Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU,YCMOU and Pune University presided over the ceremony . After welcome speech by Prof. D. Harichandan, Director, IDOL, Prof. Mohammad Miyan, president, IATE addressed the delegates. There after eight eminent teacher educators of the country were honoured. Dr. Khagendra Kumar, General Secretary, IATE presented their brief profile. They received ‘Eminent Teacher Educator Award’ from the NCTE Chairperson, Prof. Akhtar Siddiqui, the chief guest on the occasion. He delivered the inaugural address. The ceremony came to an end with vote of thanks by Dr. Sefali Pandya, Department of Education, University of Mumbai.
  • Prof. T.K.N. Menon Memorial Lecture was delivered by Prof. Ram Takwale, ViceChancellor, IGNOU,YCMOU and Pune University. Dr.S.N. Mukherjee Memorial Lecture was delivered by Prof. R.G. Kothari, Former Vice-Chancellor, V. N. South Gujarat University and Professor, CASE, M.S. University of Baroda.
  • The 43rd conference of IATE was international. The Conference theme was ‘Teacher Education and ICT: Global Context, Policy and Framework’. Delegates from Iran, South Africa, Hong Kong, Nigeria, etc. participated in the conference and presented their papers. Over 200 papers were presented by delegates from various universities of the country in 29 parallel sessions divided under four sub themes. A learned panel of teacher educators chaired each of 29 sessions.
